1.2.13. SNMP

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a set of protocols for network management and monitoring. These protocols are supported by many typical network devices such as routers, switches, servers, workstations, printers, etc. The most frequently used SNMP messages are traps. These are sent to the server by an agent when an issue needs to be reported. OpenNAC uses SNMP traps to discover networks, and as visibility use case source of information.

OpenNac normally uses SNMP traps (MAP Learn) as a source of information. To learn more about the way OpenNAC use SNMP traps review Visibility SNMP traps configuration and Visibility SNMP traps administration.

If there is some issue with SNMP, we can review the SNMP troubleshooting.
