Simulating Profiling Rules¶
OpenNAC has the ability to profiling the discovered asset on the network, this task is accomplished by a set of profiling rules, with the initial deployment of openNAC some profiling rules are previously configured but openNAC users can customize the profiling rules according with business requirements.
Go to ON NAC –> Profiling –> User Device Profiling, there’re the profiling configured rules, each one can be edited or openNAC users can add new ones.
After execute profiling rules a tag type EPT is inserted on asset.

For more information about Profiling User Device Profiling.
Go to ON NAC –> Business Profiles –> Default View, select one asset in any business profile, right click on it, some options are available here, select the option Simulate Profiling.

The profiling Rules Specified in User Device Profiling will execute on this asset and the matches will appear in green color and the miss matches in red color, the tag with most coincidence will be inserted on the asset and if a different one (EPT tag) was inserted before, it will be removed.
Each profiling rule has the same weight in profiling evaluation or simulation. In this case just one match is found, so the VOIP tag.

Expand the asset details and verify the ETP tag inserted on this asset.

For more information about tags, Tags Information.
OpenNAC users can customize profiling rules according with business requirements, modify existing rules after execute simulation if the result doesn’t match with the expected output.
