1.2.10. Port Span

Port Span is a mechanism that monitors the network traffic as IDS technology. It is used on network devices (switch, ap, etc.) to send a copy of every network packet that goes through a specified port to a network monitoring connection on another switch port.

It is commonly used for network appliances that require monitoring of network traffic. Port Span is like a port mirroring system.
