1.2.4. Tags

OpenNAC includes a very flexible feature called Tag which serves various purposes within the product.

OpenNAC Enterprise includes and generates many out-of-the-box tags related to the assets and their context. Any additional tags that are needed can be manually created based on the specific needs of each customer. This advantage gives you the freedom to fully customize the product as per your requirements.

The tags inserted in User Devices can be easily associated with post-it notes containing relevant information. Each device is tagged with a prefix, facilitating the process of updating and maintaining user device information, including open ports, DNS queries, OS version, and more.

All tags associated with user devices and network devices connected to the network have a Time-to-Live (TTL), meaning that the tags will expire after a certain amount of time. By default, they are configured to last 4300 minutes, but this value can be modified. If you configure the TTL to 0, it means tags never go out of date or refresh their values.

The Tag feature is widely applied throughout several sections of the Administration Portal. Refer to the ON CMDB > Tags section to view the out-of-the-box tags for Network Devices and User Devices, as well as the capabilities of the tag feature.

For information about tags prefix description and examples, see the Tags table section.
